Project Overview: Our client approached us for developing a mobile based ticket booking. They previously had an online ticketing application which kept acting up every once in a while. They wanted us to design an application with a very user-friendly interface, enabling the user to have complete choice of multiplex locations, timings, and offers. The client wanted to saving their customers the delays and inconvenience of standing in long queues outside their theaters. Easy, convenient booking anytime, anywhere at the punch of a few buttons was what was required.

Solution: In response to client requirements, we developed a rapid, browser based ticket booking application. The application is a frontrunner in terms of the way it allows checking movie schedules, ordering and paying for tickets through mobile phone. The application allows the user to select the theater, show timings, price per ticket, seat availability and even the aisle to be seated on. The application is compatible with all the browsers including internet explorer and uses a secure payment gateway server. This feature allows the users to make payment for their tickets instantly and securely using their credit/debit cards.
Technology used:
Server-side: The application runs on ASP.Net, MySQL and XML Parsing and has the capacity to cater to upto 200 concurrent users at any given point of time.
Client-side: BREW application development SDK, Visual studio environment development and BREW C, BREW C++.
Features: The application offers the following features to the users:
- List of latest released movies – Users can choose the movie of her choice from a list of all the latest released movies.
- Theatre Selection – It provides the users with a list of cinema halls in the city to choose from.
- Show-timing Selection - The application lets you choose from the various show timings available for any movie in a theatre.
- Seat Availability and Layout Selection – Users can also check the seat availability and can select the seat layout according to personal needs, using this application.
- Price per ticket – The user can check the pricing options depending on the ticket class they choose, for example- gold class or silver class.
- Online Payment Gateway – The user can purchase ticket online right-away using their Credit/Debit cards.
- Movie Club Programs – It allows client to run integrated membership club programs that may involve extra benefits like prizes, last moment minute ticket booking etc.
